A Different Way to See Rugby

Rugby can be remarkably simple. It can also be endlessly complex. My work is about helping coaches understand both sides of the game and make the important decisions clearer for their players.

My experience has taken me from video analysis at Stade Français to coaching and managing rugby clubs. These different roles helped me connect what happens in the video room with what coaches and players actually need on the training field.

Around ten years ago, I began breaking down matches on YouTube. The objective was simple: understand the game better, become a more effective coach and share what I was learning.

FROM ANALYSIS TO PRACTICAL COACHING

Turning Match Analysis into Clear Coaching Frameworks

After analysing hundreds of matches, recurring principles began to emerge. Teams may use different structures and terminology, but they often face the same problems: creating space, maintaining momentum, reorganising quickly and making better decisions.

I decided to organise those observations into complete coaching frameworks. The aim is not to give coaches a fixed pattern to copy, but to help them understand, teach and adapt each system to their own players.

The courses are designed to remain useful in very different environments, from amateur U15 teams to academies and professional rugby.
COACHING & CLUB MANAGEMENT

Understanding Rugby Through the Reality of the Field

Analysis helped me understand the game. Coaching and managing clubs taught me what can actually be transmitted to a team.

On the training field, an idea only has value if players can understand it, recognise it under pressure and gradually make it their own.

The challenge is not simply to know more about rugby, but to turn complex information into clear references that players can use while the game is moving quickly.

Working with different teams also taught me that there is no single solution for every environment. The same principles must be adapted to the age, experience, qualities and ambitions of each group.

A playing system should provide direction without taking decisions away from the players.
COACHES & THEIR JOURNEYS

A Small Part of Their Success

Three coaches who had completed one of my courses later became French champions with their teams.

Their success belongs to their players, their staff and the work they carried out throughout the season. I would never suggest that a course can win a title.

What mattered to me was that each of them later contacted me to say that my work had contributed, in its own way, to their journey.

Being told that I had played even a small part in their adventure remains one of the most rewarding forms of recognition.
WHAT COACHES HAVE TOLD ME

Different Ideas for Coaches Who Want to Think for Themselves

01

A Different Perspective

“What I appreciate about your work is that you approach the game from a different angle.”

A professional Top 14 coach explained that this different perspective stood out in an environment where coaches can sometimes end up reproducing the same methods and ideas.

Prepared for the Next Environment

One coach later joined a professional academy after completing one of my courses.

When the professional staff presented the club’s playing project, he told me that he already recognised the main structures, principles and decisions because they had been covered in the course.

These stories do not prove that there is only one correct way to coach rugby. They show that a clear framework can help coaches enter new environments with stronger references, greater confidence and their own understanding of the game.
ONE GAME, DIFFERENT LEVELS

Making Rugby Understandable at Every Level

The principles of rugby remain the same, but the way they are taught must change according to the players and their environment.

A young amateur player, an academy prospect and a professional coach do not need the same level of detail. They do, however, need clear references that help them understand the game and make better decisions.

My objective is to build courses that coaches can simplify, develop and adapt — without losing the meaning behind the system.
